1. Describe/list the 5 physiologic processes which hormones control (5 pts).
2. State the 3 types of stimuli that trigger hormone release and give an example of each (6 pts).
3. Describe/list the 9 major organs/glands and list 1 (one) hormone each one produces and that hormone's affect on the body (27 pts).
4. As discussed in the previous class:
How might we use massage to help the client relate/reorder their perception fo the physical self? (Think of the impact of the nervous system in its role as an "organizer" and "communicator" within the body.

Sun & Moon

I wanted to share that I figured out a good way to do Sun & Moon. Try it on yourself -- put your hands on your abdomen, left hand on top. Then have them switch spots (your left hand moves from 12 o clock to 6 o clock, right hand vice versa), and then when your hands bump into each other, pass the left hand OVER your right wrist. The continuation of motion makes more sense (to me, anyway) then having to figure out when to pick up your hand and where to place it back down, etc.

Good luck!

Recommendation for a massage table cart from Massage Warehouse

I bought the Carry This Table Cart (Item #: 220 0407) from Massage Warehouse. It costs $75.99 plus shipping. It's a bit cumbersome and difficult to load, but once the table is set in place and the straps are secure, the table is very easy to maneuver. It has a solid t-bar in the back to keep the table in place when going up and down stairs. The larger wheels also make it easy to move. The cart will only hold the table lengthwise (as opposed to upright), which is tricky if you want to store the table loaded in the cart. What I do it tip the loaded cart with the handle up for tighter storage. I would not recommend the NRG Sporty Cart (Item #: 220 0425). There is nothing to stop the table from sliding out of the back when going up and down stairs. Massage Warehouse sells 2 other carts that look like flimsy dollies. I found the customer service at the company very helpful. If you have any questions about a particular product, do not hesitate to call them before making your purchase.

PMTI Section C Study Group

Fellow MT students,
Greetings and welcome to the new PMTI blog for Section C. I couldn't think of a good name for us. I'm not good at creating these types of things. Perhaps you guys can find a suitable name. Anyway, I wanted to create this blog so we can arrange for study group sessions and exchanges. We can also use this blog to post comments/questions about material in class and even share helpful resources. We could also post reminders for people, like fieldwork assignments and "don't forget to bring XX to class". Your contributions will make this successful. Check out the Complimentary Health News ticker at the bottom of the blog page.

See you all on Tuesday!
-Tara
